High pressure cold spray

High Pressure Cold Spray technique

Thanks to the High Pressure Cold Spray technique, it is possible to apply a  metallic layer to different kind of workpieces and shafts, and to carry out repairs on metal surfaces without heating and with high deposition.

What is unique about the High Pressure technique is the use of a wide range of sprayable materials such as stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, gold and silver. As it allows the treatment of larger surfaces, High Pressure Cold Spray considerably increases the areas of application in, for example, the aviation, automotive, shipping, offshore and electronics industries.

The High Pressure Cold Spray technique can be applied to all metals, glass, ceramics and plastics.

A wide range of metals and alloys can be treated, e.g.:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Aluminium
  • Aluminium-Bronze
  • Babbitt
  • Copper
  • Monel
  • Nickel-Chrome
  • Nickel
  • Stainless steel
  • Tin
  • Titanium
  • Inconel
  • Ti-6AI-4V
  • MCrAIY
  • Nicromium

The Cold Spray technology is very suitable for:

  • Repair of corrosive damages
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Anticorrosive treatment of local areas
  • Repair of bearing seats
  • Repair of forms and patterns for casting of plastic, glass and metal
  • Electrical conductive layers on metals, glass and many plastics
  • And many others

A few technical specifications of the High Pressure Cold Spray system:

  • Large quantities of metal particles (up to a maximum of 600 g/min) are sprayed under high pressure  (up to a maximum of 100 bar)
  • Carrier gas: nitrogen and/or helium
  • Up to 95% efficiency
  • Clogging is a thing of the past thanks to the unique cooled nozzle design
  • Continuous and reliable operation means the technique is suitable for use on production lines
  • Integration of heater and spray system ensures mobility, making it possible to treat large and irregular surfaces
